The Colin Archer- type Wyvern crossed the finish line south of Karmøy island just after midnight Wednesday 27 July. Wyvern won both the overall race and its class (corrected time). Wyvern is owned by the Stavanger maritime museum.

Norwegian ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl came in second and the Norwegian ship Liv third in the overall race.

Statsraad Lehmkuhl also won class A, vessels over 40 meters, followed by Norwegian Christian Radich and German Alexander von Humboldt.

Behind Wyvern and Liv in class B came Dutch Tecla. The class is for vessels under 40 meters with a traditional rig.

Class C, modern rigged vessels under 40 meters, was won by British Black Diamond of Durham in front of Polish Dar Szczecin and Estonian St IV.
Class D, modern rigged vessels under 40 meters with spinnaker-like sails, was won by Russian Akela in front of Dutch Urania and British Rona II.

Dutch Wylde Swan was first on the water across the finish line south of Geitungen lighthouse at Karmøy.

The ships are divided into classes according to rig and size. In addition, the ships are given handicaps based on its total sail area.

The regatta started from Lerwick in Shetland on Monday 25 July. The next leg to Halmstad in Sweden will start west of Kvitsøy Sunday 31 July at 18.00.

The Tall Ships Races 2011 is presented by Szczecin and organised by Sail Training International.
